Next.js vs Remix for a product studio

We ship Next.js because the hiring pool, the hosting, and the App Router defaults match the products we quote. Remix is excellent. It is not our default.

Comparisons

Why Next.js here

Vercel and Netlify both understand it. React Server Components are boring now, which is what you want in a six-week MVP. Metadata, sitemaps, and image optimization are already in the framework.

When we would pick Remix

A nested-routing UI that is mostly mutations, or a team that already lives in Remix. We will not pretend the quote is cheaper just because the logo changed.

Questions

Can you take over a Remix app?

Yes. The quote is still a written scope. The stack in the repo wins over our default.
